You see, humans have superpowers, no really, we do. It’s however unfortunate accessible knowledge is so lacking in inspiring the understanding to tap into our gifts and improve our lives with the strengths (already) within us. Our wires are crossed because of the misleading knowledge in the world, leading us to function like a malfunctioning robot. Hopefully what we’re about to learn together shines a light.

Focusing on things you do not want to do, when it comes to whether you take an action or not, we have the power to override our preferences. For example, Most people willingly go to work, even though they do not want to go. In this case, the person is willingly doing something they do not want to do. Your ability to bring yourself to do something you don’t want to do, is a superpower.

It’s about to get a bit tongue twisting and complex, buckle up.

So, we know about things you do not want to do yet do anyway. Sure.

There are also certain actions that you struggle to bring yourself to do, so you don’t do them, because it’s something you do not want to do. And that’s fine. These are the actions you did not want to do and you did not do.

Let’s add a twist.

There are certain actions you willingly engage in, even though you do not want to do them and even though you know the action is not good for you. You find yourself doing them anyways. Please read that again.

Here’s another. Buckle Up.

There are certain actions you struggle to engage in, actions you do not want to do even though you know the action is good for you. Yet, you do not do them, it just isn’t what you want to do. For example, saying sorry. I know people who never apologize. Don’t expect it, because it’s not coming. They know saying “sorry” is healthy and good for them but they would not bring themselves to say it. These are actions you do not want to do, and do not do, even though you know it’s good for you.

A brief recap is necessary. Think of a particular example in your life for each of these below. For, if we can agree on these:

  • There are things you want to do. There are things you do not want to do.
  • There are things you do not want to do but you willingly do
  • There are things you do not want to do and you struggle to do
  • There are things you do not want to do, that are not good for you but you willingly bring yourself to do them.
  • There are things you do not want to do, that are good for you, yet you struggle to do them.

We can move on to these:

  • Why would a person do something that is not good for them?
  • What makes a person do something they do not want to do?
  • What does — w a n t — have to do with it?
  • Why would a person refuse to do something good for them?

A lot of our suffering is based on one word: W A N T.

Hold on. We’re getting somewhere.

What is good for you, is not always what you want.
And, what you want is not always good for you.

What does — w a n t — have to do with it?

Let’s dig deeper.
