Poem: The Itch For A Quest. 1

While I had what I was looking for,
I did not recognize what I had,
so I went looking.
Journeying through distant lands,
searching, sweating, suffering.
None suggesting what I sought after I already had
Instead, I received praises and encouragement,
for my bravery and continued sacrifice.
Because here, we are supposed to sacrifice
what we have, to get what we want.
But what happens after one sacrifices
only to find out what you sought after
isn’t at all what you seek?
For these distant lands
hold nothing of what I want.
At the first sign of energy
I spring up and journey back home,
thinking of my next adventure
because that which I want, I must get
And I will continue to sacrifice
all my energy but never my perception.
I will receive praises and encouragement,
for my bravery and continued sacrifice.
For while I had what I was looking for,
I did not recognize what I had,
so I went looking some more.
Because energy I can sacrifice, never my perception.
