Poem: So, Become Great.

There comes a day,
When you’d look in the mirror,
And wonder what it was all about,
Which way was right,
And, which burden was light.

There comes a day,
When you’d try to think of something,
You’d try, sitting there,
Using all your energy to form a complete sentence,
But no sentence would be formed.

There comes a day,
When your journey would no longer be a journey,
You’d have senses of returning home,
Where you started,
Though it took a lifetime to find the way home.

There comes a day,
When everyone around you,
Would treat you so tenderly,
As though you were to break,
If moved about too quickly.

In your future, comes a day,
Soon here, before you know it,
Where you’d be surrounded by,
different generations of your lineage,
Those who would now take on the journey from here.

A day will come,
When you would look in the mirror, and wonder,
Whether you applied yourself to all you were assigned,
Were you able to harness the body and energy of yours,
To accomplish all you were tasked.

For the breath we breathe somehow seems uncountable and endless,
The blood pumping motion of the heart,
Seems rhythmic, uneventful and regular,
The gesture of your feet and reflexes of your arm,
All seem very familiar — as it should be.

Yet, familial reflexes and regular gestures,
Are a passing countable motion,
With each breathe, we get one step closer,
With each test, we grow one day less,
To the eventuality of our existence.

Today, you have the opportunity to decide,
Whom you would become,
There comes a day, either in joy or discomfort,
When you’d be faced with the thought of,
Just who you could have become.
