Poem: Sandwich and Laughing.
Darling,
Come away with me,
I know not what would become of us,
But I know misery awaits our going separate ways.
Get on this train with me,
Travel through these foreign roads with me,
Let laughter and sheer joy guide us.
Sit next to me,
Wherever we go,
Just as you are, sitted next to me.
So rare are moments like these,
One would have to be born twice,
To experience this more than once.
I enjoy your company so intensely,
I wonder if we had lived in love,
In a different life.
Should you leave me,
Your flight’s arrival would make your family happy,
But left behind would be one humble soul made miserable.
Should you leave with me,
The mere presence of you would light up this whole continent,
Especially for this sleep deprived traveler seated next to you.
The stretched out arms of your parents met with your absence,
As your plane arrives home without you on it,
Would distress many hearts.
So I hold you, like I know I’d never see you again,
Of all my travels,
Layovers have always been a source of pain.
You kiss me like you know you’d never see me again,
For the joy of meeting is great,
But the tears of leaving is greater.
