as day passes
younger i’m no longer
aches and long stretches
hand support, leg support
back support, life support.

as day passes
innocent you’re no longer
expenses and new mistakes
hospital bill, daycare bill,
housing bill, lawyer bill.

as day passes
content we’re no longer
desperate and ever comparing
hair line, credit line,
wrinkle line, lifeline.
