Poem: Land and Sea.
Do you recognize similarities?
All the different ways we are the same.
Do you remember our history?
And all the planned journeys we never made.
What brings you joy?
Our being silent together
or our conversations when we’re apart?
What are your favorite moments?
The excitement of sharing new stories
Or the delight in recounting old tales?
The memory of your smell
Redirected my path today
Caught off-guard by a sniff of your scent
As my nose plays detective around the house
Sniffing as I walk, searching, wanting more of you
That sweet scent that erodes from you
As our bodies unite, slowly, warm and together
The contrast in the shades of our skin
I admire the clear line formed
where your skin ends and mine begins
Like the love affair between land and sea
I think of you today
How our hands intertwine
with eyes locked on each other
How different we look, yet feel the same
How present we seem though lost in time
Gradually, moments become memories
Slowly, ticking clocks become background music
I aspire for what you inspire
I admire all that you desire
And loyal to you, I shall continue to be
For out of all, it is only you I sea.
