Poem: Cheers

In an instant,
a life changes,
what you’ve come to know
becomes what you no longer trust.
Things change in an instant.
In the blink of an eye,
just like that,
a game is won,
and the loser shows.
You blink, years pass
You sneeze, gray hair appears
by the time you cough,
it’s all over.
What you thought was important,
you now think useless.
What you said you’d never do
you now wonder why it took so long to do.
Life happens in an instant,
it’s raining now,
then the sun comes out
you were dry,
now she’s wet.
In an instant,
a new relationship is formed.
In the blink of an eye,
a person’s life is changed.
In an instant,
a baby is born.
Blink of an eye,
you can go from feeling down to being elated
from one job to another
from one apartment to another
Blink an eye and your whole world could change
Just like that
you can go from being downstairs to being upstairs
Life changing situations
often happens in an instant.
You were just buying milk from that store
Now the store is out of business
before you say hold on a minute,
before you can catch your breath,
you’re already on social security.
Just like that,
You can go from the comfort of your AC
to changing car tire on the highway in the cold
Life moving, people adjusting, arranging and rearranging
trying to understand what exactly is going on
I sense you’re about to blink
But it’s no bother,
Rejoice,
you never know what you might find
And, just like that
Your whole world is about to change.
